Cahill Expressway essential maintenance

The RTA has completed maintenance works on the roadway deck above Circular Quay Railway Station.

Roadway maintenance

In June 2006 the RTA commenced maintenance works on the expansion joints on the upper road bridge deck of the Cahill Expressway. These expansion joints allow the bridge deck to expand or contract, depending on weather conditions.

Works were completed in August 2009.

Benefits

The replacement of the expansion joints will minimise future maintenance requirements and reduce traffic noise. It will also minimise the potential for water to filter through the joints.
