Kempsey to Eungai upgrade

Welcome to the Pacific Highway Kempsey to Eungai upgrade website.

The 40km project extends from the existing dual carriageway south of Kempsey to the existing dual carriageway at Eungai Rail.

Final approval has been granted for the Kempsey to Eungai upgrade. More information is available on the planning approval page of this website.

Preconstruction activities have commenced in the Kempsey to Frederickton section of the project and include flood modelling, preparation of the compensatory habitat offset strategy, field investigations, preliminary design and property acquisitions.

As part of the Building Australia Fund, the Federal Government announced that it would provide $618 million for the construction of the Kempsey bypass, which is part of the approved Kempsey to Eungai project.

The RTA is forming an alliance with Leighton Contractors, AECOM and Coffey Geotechnics to design and build the upgrade.
