The Department of Environmental and Climate Change (DECC) Smoky Vehicle Program

Under the Smoky Vehicle Program vehicles blowing excessive smoke can be reported.

The Clean Air Regulation prohibits all vehicles blowing smoke for more than 10 seconds continuously.

If you see any vehicle exceeding this 10 second smoke rule you can report them to the DECC's pollution line by phoning 131 555 or at www.environment.nsw.gov.au/esdsmoky/index.htm

Smoky Vehicle Program

The DECC can issue infringement and defect notices to owners of smoky vehicles.

Vehicles identified as being smoky are given a maximum of 21 days by the DECC to have the vehicles repaired.
