Mr Roozendaal, who was joined on site by Minister for Western Sydney Barbara Perry, said the upgraded facility now provided the opportunity for learners to have more driving tests than ever before.
“This is another example of the Iemma Government’s commitment to improve services for hard working families in Sydney’s west,“ Mr Roozendaal said.
“The region’s driving tests have been transferred to Silverwater and the registry has been upgraded to include four driver testing counters and eight driver test parking spots.
“To coincide with this upgrade, we have also extended trading hours to include Saturdays, to give learner drivers more opportunities to undertake driver testing.
“The upgrade demonstrates the RTA’s ongoing commitment to delivering quality customer service for the community by providing appropriate services in appropriate locations.”
Ms Perry said the Silverwater area provided learners with a more diverse testing environment including 80kmh multi-lane areas.
“Learner drivers also benefit from a significantly increased customer service area and greatly improved parking area – going from three car spots at Parramatta to 43 car spots at Silverwater.
“The new facility features state-of-the-art facilities including enhanced public seating, newly designed transaction counters, knowledge testing amenities and a voice automated queuing system.”
“Western Sydney is one of the fastest growing areas in NSW and this upgrade shows the Iemma Government remains committed to ensuring local residents and businesses have access to new and improved infrastructure and services.”
The registry is now open from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to noon on Saturdays.
