An RTA spokesperson said the 'Diesel Emissions Awareness Course' was designed for truck and bus owners, drivers and operators, diesel mechanics and fleet and workshop managers.
“All participants who attend the course receive a TAFE NSW certificate of attendance,” the spokesperson said.
“The course provides information about the impact of diesel emissions on the environment and offers practical advice on the steps needed to reduce the level of pollution from a diesel engine, improve profitability and reduce the risk of being fined for environmental breaches.
“The course also tells owners and operators how to become members of the RTA's Clean Fleet Program. Participants in this program may be eligible to seek a fuel tax credit for their heavy vehicles,” the spokesperson said.
The 'Diesel Emissions Awareness Course' is an initiative of the NSW Government under the Australian Government's National Environmental Protection Measure for diesel vehicles. This half-day course is being held between October 2008 and June 2009 at the following TAFE campuses:
- Wetherill Park.
- Kurri-Kurri.
- Shellharbour. Wagga Wagga.
- Tamworth.
