An Investigation of Aboriginal Driver Licensing Issues - Research Report
Summary
The study consisted of qualitative and quantitative phases.
Phase one involved a series of fifteen mini-group discussion sessions
amongst the Aboriginal Community in NSW and a presentation/workshop
with Aboriginal Program Advisors and Liaison Officers. Communities from
a total of twelve (12) urban, regional and remote locations were included.
Phase 2 involved 300 face to face interviews, conducted across fourteen (14) urban, regional and remote locations.
The fundamental objectives of this research were:
- Identify and quantify licencing issues amongst Aboriginal people;
- Direct the development of policy, program and service responses to driver licencing issues amongst Aboriginal people; and
- Establish benchmark measures for the future monitoring of effectiveness of policy, programs and services to address driver licencing issues amongst Aboriginal people.
